About Our Roles
Samantha Sandhaus
“I started Feeding Philly to combat the need I knew was really prevalent in my school and community. I am inspired every day by the compassion of my team and the perseverance we have together to make change.”
Neematallah Yusuff
“I initially joined Feeding Philly as an intern because I was interested in mitigating food waste and insecurity, helping those in need, and creating a positive impact on the environment and the community. Over the years I got more involved and i am now the Executive Director! Since joining Feeding Philly, I have connected with others with the same goal to help spread awareness about food waste and insecurity while making a difference in the lives of people across Philadelphia.”
Xavier Thornton

“I strive to support and oversee our CARE initiative, and eventually sustain Feeding Philly’s commitment to the community in the future. Being the daaughter of immigrants, my mother did not always have a reliable source of healthy or nutritious food. Hearing of the various challenges she faced in her upbringing inspires me to work with Feeding Philly, so I can have a large impact on families just like hers through education and food distributions."
Irene Hong
"I’m Irene, a junior (285) at Central High School. As a part of the team at Feeding Philly, I am committed to making a positive change in my local community by spreading awareness about and mitigating food waste and insecurity. My role as non-profit education coordinator includes developing a Feeding Philly curriculum and notebook for others to learn how to combat food insecurity, connecting with other organizations and programs with interest in our work, and helping to manage Feeding Philly’s nonprofit endeavors both inside and outside our school to work together towards our cause. I am eager to continue to learn more and educate others about the importance and impact of access to nutritious food. I hope to continue making and expanding our impact and I am ready to have an amazing year!"
